North East Physiotherapy - Moving Your Through Life

Services

People who present to our rooms will receive the highest quality physiotherapy care.
Equipped with the latest research and information, our physiotherapists will assess the underlying cause of movement disorders, joint, muscle and nerve injuries.
In consultation with the client, we then design a treatment program utilising a range of the latest techniques and evidence-based practice to relieve pain, restore movement and prevent future problems.
We recognise that each person has individual needs when it comes to the hea lth of their body. Inappropriate exercises can be harmful and may aggravate certain conditions. Appropriate assessment and prescription is required to develop, supervise and monitor successful treatment plans.

All programs are fully supervised and include systems that continuously provide feedback to the clients. Programs are offered in the appropriate facilities, which include specially equipped exercise studios and heated pools.

Bone Health

Beat the Break Program-
for Osteoporosis

The current research informs us that in Australia, 1 in 2 women and 1 in 3 men over the age of 60 will suffer an osteoporotic fracture (brittle bone break). Regular weight bearing exercise and progressive resistance strength training can prevent bone loss. Exercise improves muscle strength, posture, balance and mobility.
Each participant will initially be individually assessed. As we understand the physical changes that occur with menopause and ageing, Studio 20 Clinical Pilates physiotherapists can prescribe specific exercise to help you prevent falls and fractures.

Pain Relief

Dry Needling

Dry Needling is “needling to altered or dysfunctional tissues in order to improve or restore function. This may include (but is not limited to) needling of Myofascial Trigger points (MTrPs), periosteum and soft tissues.” Assessment and treatment is based on the anatomical and biological concepts underpinning western medicine. In particular assessment may aim to identify the existence of MTrPs relevant to the region under treatment. When do physiotherapists use Dry Needling?
Dry Needling can be a powerful adjunctive treatment for physiotherapists though it is important to remember that Dry Needling is only one part of the treatment component. Physiotherapy will likely also address biomechanical muscle imbalances, postural dysfunctions, muscular flexibility limitation, strength deficits, and swollen or stiff joints.

Occupational Physiotherapy

Return to Work Programs / Worksite Assessments / Manual Handling Training / Pre-employment Screening / Back Education sessions

Did you know that physiotherapy can make a significant contribution to improving health and return to work outcomes for injured workers? Musculoskeletal disorders (injury or disease affecting muscles and joints associated with manual handling) cause pain and loss of productivity.
At North East Physiotherapy, management plans are developed in consultation with the employer, the insurer, the injured worker and other relevant health professionals such as doctors. All plans are outcome focused with set time frames for achieving goals.

Continence Management

Our Clinical Pilates physiotherapists have an understanding of how to best facilitate your pelvic floor retraining, in conjunction with an exercise program. This will always involve strengthening the pelvic floor muscles and improving their endurance and coordination. Any program will involve some general exercise, for example walking as well as strengthening other muscles that are around the pelvic floor.

Some physios have extra training in treating incontinence. Your physio can help you to find one of these. A pelvic floor physiotherapist will firstly ask you questions about your particular problem and work out a plan for your treatment. In addition, you may be taught bladder retraining techniques to help your bladder hold on better.

Physiotherapists are health providers with formal training in medical science, pathology, anatomy, biomechanics and movement analysis.

This unique combination of knowledge and skills makes them the best placed health practitioners for prescribing safe and effective exercise programs, which are an essential part of any injury-management or rehabilitation program. Specific treatment and exercise programs are developed, monitored and progressed by our Physiotherapists. These are aimed at strengthening the body to prevent injury, improve general health and fitness or restore function after injury.
