North East Physiotherapy - Moving Your Through Life

Studio 20 Clinical Pilates

What is Clinical Pilates?

Clinical Pilates can be used to benefit people of all ages, with almost any movement disorder or injury, and can help you with your general health and fitness including:

  • back, neck and spinal pain or disorders
  • injury prevention
  • sports injuries management
  • improve posture, trunk and 'core' stability
  • muscle and joint problems
  • arthritis
  • balance
  • pelvic floor rehabilitation

How is it different to lifestyle pilates?

  1. It is evidence-based exercise specific for the individual
  2. You are guaranteed expert diagnosis by physiotherapists, based on latest scientific research
  3. Appropriate exercise prescription is tailored to YOUR individual musculo-skeletal needs
  4. You will receive fully supervised exercise, using specialised spring loaded equipment to enhance 'control' rather than strength

Clinical Pilates Studio 20
Studio 20 Clinical Pilates provides evidence-based exercise which is developed, monitored and progressed by Physiotherapists to provide a personalised exercise program for you.

Clinical Pilates Studio 20 is an extension of our North East Physiotherapy practices in Wangaratta, Benalla and Yarrawonga, Victoria. At Studio 20, we work exclusively in exercise rehabilitation. We take into account any existing musculoskeletal issues and tailor the program to suit the you.

We are extremely excited to be able to offer this fantastic new approach to our clients.

Who is it for?
At Studio 20 Clinical Pilates, we work with people who have issues with movement and pain, as well as those wishing to improve their general well-being and fitness.
Clinical Pilates will get results for back, neck and spinal pain, sports injuries management, improving posture, trunk and ‘core’ stability, muscle and joint problems, injury prevention, arthritis, balance, and pelvic floor rehabilitation.

Clinical Pilates Exercise Programs are designed for:
• Spine & Core Stability
• Back and neck pain
• Posture, flexibility & body toning
• Enhanced Sports Performance
• Movement, Strength & Balance
• Mums and Pregnant women
• Bone Health
• Improving return to work outcomes

What does it involve?
Retraining muscles to work again after poor function due to pain or injury with:
• One-on-One Consultations
• Supervised Group Sessions
• Independent sessions and packages

The emphasis is on muscle ‘control’ rather than ‘strength’ with the use of spring-loaded equipment to provide appropriate resistance.
Our equipment includes:
• reformer beds
• trapeze tables
• jump board
• pilates box
• thoracic barrel
• fitball
• tubing accessories

Research Based
The techniques used by our physiotherapists trained in Clinical Pilates are based on sound research and an increasing body of scientific evidence. Core stabilisation training and efficient trunk muscle function have been shown to assist recovery and importantly, reduce the risk of injury.

Current scientific research shows that targeted individual exercise programs designed and supervised by a physiotherapist are an effective way to treat a number of conditions. Your Clinical Pilates-trained physiotherapist will do a thorough musculo-skeletal assessment, and prescribe an ndividually tailored program to ensure that the exercise will be specific for you to reach your goals.

All of our team of Physiotherapists have undergone extensive Clinical Pilates training and range from Level 1-4 qualifications in this exciting and innovative approach to rehabilitation. They have the detailed knowledge and skill required to safely design you a program- whatever age- to keep Moving You Through Life.

Individually tailored programs
Your physiotherapist will fine tune and progress your Clinical Pilates program to suit your personal needs. A home program will also be developed.
You will require at least five individual sessions with the physiotherapist to develop your program. Then the pathway of progression involves continuing your individualised program within a small supervised group environment. The later option of independent sessions within the Studio applies to clients who are competent to work un-supervised.

Can I use my Private Health Insurance extras' Rebates?
Rebates for treatment are available under private health insurance schemes which may be claimed electronically at the time of consultation. Eligible clients may be covered under Veterans Affairs, EPC, TAC or Workers Compensation Schemes.
